Sam was born in France in 1976. He lives and works between Paris and Lisbonne. Sam holds a degree in Design from the Fine Arts School of Saint Etienne and a post-graduate degree from the National Decorative Arts School of Paris. Sam loves to reinterpret traditional manufacturing methods, raising questions about the utility of contemporary material productions.
From 2006 to 2018, he was the design director at Fabrica – the Benetton group communication research center – in Italy. Besides this, he always was and remains an independent designer and consultant for international companies. He creates products, exhibition and interior design projects, giving life to hybrid works mixing art and design. In 2009 Baron received the “Grand Prix de la Creation de la Ville de Paris” in the design category and was selected by Philippe Starck in 2010 as one of the ten most important designers of the next decade.

For NOMA, Sam Baron developped “Pedra 99,6%”, a collection of objects made of waste from marble quarries in Portugal.
