Our approach

Our vision ? Eco-design, to limit the environmental impact of the products we create.

Our philosophy is to preventively integrate the environment in the development of all our products. And to produce furniture and objects that link an environmental conscience to design culture.

Our approach penetrates the entire life-cycle of our products: from conception to production, distribution, use – and re-use ! – as their end-of-life. – as their end-of-life.

For this first collection, we have favored the use of recycled materials. In furthering our research, we have turned toward (ultra)mature networks, such as steel, while at the same time innovating through contact with younger networks, such as compressed plastics.

NOMA creates objects whose elegance and comfort guarantee long years of use and responsible consumption. Their recycling has been considered right from their inception.

Here are the eight principles that we have set for ourselves.

Identify and avoid toxic products

In close collaboration with our suppliers, we select all paint, glues, and more generally, all finishings that are applied to our products.

We routinely demand the FDES (Fiche de Déclaration Environnementale et Sanitaire) or CDSE (Environmental Declaration and Health Certificate), in order to know their make-up. This allows us to make insightful choices. We guarantee the minimum COV (Composés Organiques Volatiles, or Volatile Organic Compounds) in all our products.

We favor recognized certificates such as Label Pure, Nordic Ecolabel, Ecolabel Europeen, and NF environment.

We draw up action plans with our suppliers to constantly improve the sourcing of raw materials and input.

Measuring our impacts on the environment

To know exactly what our impact is, we work with specialists Eco-Conception Cooperative MU. For each item we produce, we carry out a “Life-Cycle Analysis.” This becomes the base for development of a middle- to long-term action plan, and drives us toward an approach of ongoing improvement.

A preference for noble materials

NOMA means Noble Materials.

We mainly use recycled materials (88%* throughout the collection) because we think they are the noblest materials.

We favor post consumption recycled materials over post-production recycled materials.

We commit ourselves to using a minimum of 75% recycled materials in each of our products.

We support the development of new networks and transformation processes.

Designing for the long term

We design our products to serve you as long as possible – and to please you as long as possible !

We choose sustainable materials that have come from mature recycling networks.

We test our products and materials with the FCBA (Fédération de la Cellulose et du Bois dans l’Ameublement) or French Institute of Technology for Forest-based and Furniture Sectors) to verify their sustainability and durability. You will have the choice to look after each purchase for its entire lifetime, or to revitalize it when you deem it necessary.

Being transparent

It is taking on the sincere commitment to be open and above-board at all times, on the history of our creations, our associates, the materials selected and procedures we use.

Identifying and verifying

Each article has a unique identifier thanks to a QR code which allows you to :

— authenticate your purchase at all times;

— know the exact composition of the product;

— offer help to other owners wishing to choose a repair operation and/or recycling action.

Our products are valued optimally by recycling networks such as Eco-mobilier or Valdelia in France.

All this information is accessible with an app.

To fabricate as close as possible : in France or nearby Europe.

An ethical choice, in line with social guarantees. An ecological choice allowing reduction in transport. A sustainable choice, to highlight local skills and knowledge.

And finally...

All our products have been designed to be recycled. They can be dismantled easily at the end of their life; each component is reuseable since NOMA uses no or little glue, and employs no irreparable mix of materials.

Using a limited number of components – without mixing them – guarantees efficient recycling.
